| Carlos Sainz and Dani Oliveras (Ford) finished third in the first stage of the Desafío Ruta 40, held today in different areas of the Argentine province of San Juan, with a timed special stage of 340 kilometers.
Carlos and his new co-driver, Dani Oliveras, who are competing in their first race together, even led the stage. However, a doubt at a checkpoint prevented them from winning the day and they finally finished just 56 seconds behind the winner of the stage. Carlos Sainz: “Positive stage, the first one completed with Dani, and the truth is that everything worked very well. At kilometer 300 we were leading the race, but then at a waypoint we had a doubt, and we preferred to turn around to make sure we were going well. We lost some time, but in the end we finished third and happy. The car was perfect, everything was fine”. |
