Carlos Sainz and Dani Oliveras (Ford) won the fourth and penultimate stage of the Desafío Ruta 40. After yesterday’s problems, when they could not complete the special stage due to a broken steering belt, today Carlos and Dani went all out and won the stage victory, the first for Ford in this rally.

Carlos Sainz: “Very happy with today’s stage, it was a tough special, the truth is that we had no problems and well happy after yesterday’s disappointment. Today being able to win is important the first victory with Dani and tomorrow the exercise of opening the track will also be good for us in order to continue our adaptation, so a positive day”.

Tomorrow’s stage:
San Juan – San Juan
Special: 320 Km
Link: 232 Km

The last stage of the Desafío Ruta 40 2026 will not be a ride, but a 320-kilometer route where the winners of this edition will be defined. The speed sector starts near the imposing Cuesta del Viento, bordering a water mirror in a winding road with cuts, which goes into a landscape of colorful mountains and sandy soil, typical of that region. Then you will pass through high altitude trails, small water courses and several places where navigation will be essential.

At the end, the race enters the classic “open desert” of the province of San Juan, combining tracks with low vegetation and dry rivers that will force you not to lose your concentration and to keep a constant attention on the roads and trails in order not to make a mistake in the course. Nothing will be defined until the last kilometer.
