In the penultimate stage of the South African Safari Rally, Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz finished in sixteenth position, 4 minutes and 27 seconds behind the winner of the day, Lategan (Toyota). Today they had to open track, and in this rally that is a disadvantage, as the route includes very narrow sections. Carlos and Lucas have been disadvantaged by this fact.
With the last day to go tomorrow, the Spanish Ford Raptor drivers are 4 and a half minutes behind the leader, Lategan. Although it is a short stage, they will try to make up time.
Carlos Sainz: “We knew today would be complicated. We have encountered very narrow and technical sections, where starting among the first penalizes. Tomorrow, last effort: we will try to cut some time, even if the special stage is short.”
Tomorrow is the last stage of the South African Safari Rally, the fifth one. This is composed of hard dirt, which when dry is very breakable and does not generate dust, but if it gets wet it becomes very slippery and difficult. There will be some river crossings and dirt sections. It will be a mixture of dirt tracks and river crossings.
